Bio
Chico Freitas launches the Brazilian Music album “Pelas Canções” with the institutional support of Fábricas de Cultura. The singles, eleven in total, cover the genres of song, bossa nova, samba, northeastern music and pop. He is a singer, composer and guitarist from Osasco (SP), Brazil.
This album began to be created shortly after the singer and composer took a free popular music composition course with composers Eduardo Gudin and Roberto Riberti at the Universidade Livre de Música Tom Jobim, in Brooklin, a neighborhood in São Paulo. Today, this school is called Emesp: School of Music of the State of São Paulo. “Gudin and Riberti unlocked the composer within me and, as a bonus, the course allowed me to participate in the beginning of a collective of student composers, Quatro Cantos, which had a brief life.
Freitas’ music reflects his diverse and eclectic background, and shows an influence from the Brazilian Music Festivals (1965-75), as well as the Bossa Nova, Tropicália, and Clube da Esquina musical movements.
